Melody's Musings

Stuff that catches my fancy and random, sorted thoughts from the inner scrambles of my mind.

What you may expect to find here are what I consider good taste and some of the best in photography, philosophy, humor, art, architecture, food, music, poetry, literature and dance. I hope you like some of the things I enjoy.

I like anything to do with good design such as interior design, architecture, photography, and art. I enjoy philosophy and psychology. I love to figure out what makes individuals tick. Music of most all types but particularly classical, world, pop, acoustic guitar is a big part of my life and add some dance to the music and my day is great! I like to write and occasionally I will write poetry and I really love to read it out loud and I even record it sometimes.

I'm a Myers-Briggs type ENFJ which means I love people and have a great interest in them.

I guess you could say I'm a humanities kind of person. :)

    Asahi Beer Headquarters

Asahi Beer Headquarters located on the east bank of the Sumida River in Sumida, Tokyo, Japan is considered one of Tokyo’s most recognizable modern structures. There are two main buildings, the biggest building standing 100 meters tall resembles a giant beer jug complete with a foam shaped white roof. The shorter building is known as the Super Dry Hall. It is a black building in the shape of a beer glass, with an enormous golden flame shaped object perched on top.

The golden structure at the top is said to represent both the ‘burning heart of Asahi beer’ and a frothy head, but the the structure is often colloquially referred to as “the golden turd” and the Asahi Beer Hall itself as “poo building”. Some people even see the flame’s similarity to the human sperm.

It never ceases to amaze us how creative Japanese designers adapt some of the world’s most awkward plots of land. Case in point: with only 52 square meters of triangular space to work with, Mizuishi Architect Atelier still managed to create a beautiful, light-filled, spacious home for a small family in Tokyo. It has a vanilla-colored base and a pitched roof clad in chocolate-colored panels that narrows down to an eye-catching point on one end of the home.
