Stuff that catches my fancy and random, sorted thoughts from the inner scrambles of my mind.

What you may expect to find here are what I consider good taste and some of the best in photography, philosophy, humor, art, architecture, food, music, poetry, literature and dance. I hope you like some of the things I enjoy.

I like anything to do with good design such as interior design, architecture, photography, and art. I enjoy philosophy and psychology. I love to figure out what makes individuals tick. Music of most all types but particularly classical, world, pop, acoustic guitar is a big part of my life and add some dance to the music and my day is great! I like to write and occasionally I will write poetry and I really love to read it out loud and I even record it sometimes.

I'm a Myers-Briggs type ENFJ which means I love people and have a great interest in them.

I guess you could say I'm a humanities kind of person. :)

In progressive, middle-class circles these days, there’s the overwhelming sense that procuring and cooking the freshest, healthiest, most sustainably sourced food should be a top priority for any thinking person. Food choices have become important political acts, with deep moral and environmental consequences. As self-righteous and irritating as this attitude can sometimes feel, it’s still speaking to a very real and scary truth. With rising obesity rates, a destructive system of factory farming, and terror-inducing 24/7 news stories about antibiotics in chicken and E. coli in spinach, many people have come to feel that their own food choices are among the most meaningful life decisions they can make.     Is The Honey You Eat Actually Honey? Study Shows it May Not ‘Bee’Food Safety News(FSN) has compiled an investigation that shows the majority of honey found in grocery stores, drug stores, restaurants and big box stores do not contain any pollen. Without pollen, it is not real honey!
When we go into the store looking to find honey we often see these bottles shaped into cute bears that are so willing to share their honey on your favorite food or in your favorite drink. But is it because they know its not real honey that they are so willing to share?
FSN used Vaughn Bryant, one of the  leading melissopalynologists, otherwise known as  experts in identifying pollen in honey, and director of the Palynology Research Laboratory at Texas A&M University, studies over 60 products labeled as “honey” that had been purchased by FSN from ten states and the District of Columbia.
Of all products labelled as “honey, Bryant found that 76 percent purchased from major grocery store chains, and 77 percent of samples purchased from big box chains did not contain any pollen. If that wasn’t crazy enough, “honey” samples taken from drug stores and fast food restaurants revealed that 100% of them contained no pollen! This means none of the products tested labelled “honey” found in fast food restaurants and drug stores are honey!

According to FSN, the lack of pollen in most conventional “honey” products is due to a process these products go through called ultra-filtering. This means the products have been intensely heated, forced through extremely tiny filters, and potentially  watered down or adulterated in some way before they are packaged and sold to stores. The process of ultra filtering also removes all medical benefits honey can have for the human body.
The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) holds the position that any so-called honey products that have been ultra-filtered are not actually honey. But the FDA agency refuses to do anything to stop  illegitimate “honey” from reaching stores across North America. The FDA also continues to stonewall all actions, like petitioning, from establishing a national regulatory standard for verifying the integrity of honey.

    How to Avoid Genetically Modified Foods
Purchase beef that is 100% grass-fed. Most cattle in the U.S. are grass-fed, but spend the last portion of their lives in feedlots where they may be given GM corn, the purpose of which is to increase intramuscular fat and marbling. If you’re looking to stay away from GMOs, make sure the cattle were 100% grass-fed or pasture-fed (sometimes referred to as grass-finished or pasture-finished).
The same applies to meat from other herbivores such as sheep.
There is also the slight possibility that the animals were fed GM alfalfa, although this is less likely if you buy meat locally.
With non-ruminants like pigs and poultry that cannot be 100% grass-fed, it’s better to look for meat that is 100% organic.
